Differences in Ecological Traits between Plants Grown In Situ and Ex Situ and Implications for Conservation

چکیده
Ex situ conservation plays an important role in maintaining global plant biodiversity and protects thousands of wild plants. Plant botanical gardens is part ex conservation; however, little attention has been given to whether ecophysiological traits change goals are reached following conservation. In this study, tree shrub plants were selected from Shanxi, Beijing China Botanical Garden, with good growth similar ages randomly measure their light response curves, CO2 curves a portable photosynthesis system (Li-6400XT), relative chlorophyll contents using meter (SPAD-502) leaf water potential dew point (WP4C). comparison cultivated plants, had higher use efficiencies among all considered (by 92–337%) greater some 107–181%), while for either or lower compared Ecological changed more as result habitat factors than due factors. Integrating Ex situ and In situ Conservation of Lemurs
Site-based and cross-regional habitat and species conservation e!orts in Madagascar, such as proposed in the previous chapters of this Lemur Conservation Strategy, should always be the main focus of lemur conservation. However, with many wild lemur populations rapidly declining and their habitat being lost at constantly high rates, captive assurance colonies are becoming increasingly important,...

Recently, a series of three-component compounds with the combination of Mn+1AXn known as Max phases have been considered as a new material. One of the most important features of Max phases, is the self-healing property of them. The main reason for considering Max Phases is a unique collection of unusual properties including their metallic, ceramic, physical, and mechanical properties. One of th...
متن کاملDifferences in Genetic Structure among Fagus orientalis Lipsky (Oriental Beech) Populations under Different Management Conditions: Implications for in situ Gene Conservation
Resource sustainability requires a thorough understanding of the influence of forest management programs on the conservation of genetic diversity in tree populations. To observe how differences in forest management affect the genetic structure of Fagus orientalis Lipsky (oriental beech), we evaluated thirteen beech sites across Hyrcanian forests, based on six microsatellite loci. Significant di...
متن کاملIntegrating In-Situ and Ex-Situ Data Management Processes for Biodiversity Conservation
There is an increasing need for a “one plan approach” for conservation strategies that integrate in-situ and ex-situ management processes. Zoological institutions contribute directly to threatened species conservation through paradigms, such as reintroduction, head-starting, supplementation, or rescue/rehabilitation/release. This in-situ/ex-situ integration necessitates collaboration at all lev...
